Our Instructors

Laurie Fleming

My passion for fitness started at a young age, having grown up with four, active older brothers who I emulated from day one. As an adult, I began running, cycling and weight training. I also took up a passion for rowing, and competed in two Atlantic challenges in New York and France.

Later, I took a position on the fitness floor at the Manchester Athletic Club, earning multiple certificates in personal training and nutritional counseling and eventually becoming the fitness director.

In 1996, I discovered Stott Pilates, and after becoming certified, I opened Streamline Strength in 1998. Over the years, I have continuously enhanced my education and understanding of the mind-body connection through yoga, breathing techniques and meditation. With my clients, I am known for my intuitiveness in looking beyond just their physical needs to their total well-being. Every client’s needs are taken into consideration during every class with patience, compassion and humor.

Jillian Chávez

Jillian’s start in Movement Arts began when she was a young girl, dancing at a local studio in Gloucester. During high school, she began to integrate weight training as a way to strengthen her body for her dance practice. Jillian continued her dance education and received her Bachelors in Dance Studies from Hampshire College in 2021. Following graduation, she began teaching children’s and adult dance classes at Movement Arts in Gloucester, MA. Thereafter Jillian came across an apprenticeship position posted by Boston Body Pilates in Boston, MA. She currently works full time there instructing group classes and private lessons while finishing her certification in Pilates in addition to teaching her dance classes.. She was also recently invited as a guest artist to teach a dance class at the Beauport Hotel for the Women’s Retreat this past April.

Jillian is fascinated with the anatomy of movement and the body’s movement potential. She finds lots of parallels between her dance practice and her Pilates practice, namely the mind body connection. to that end, Jillian considers herself to be forever a student of Pilates and Dance. She enjoys learning and helping others do the same.
